Staff

Tim Hughes

Director

The Gaff runs Brenscombe after initially converting a group of disused farm buildings into the Centre 16 years ago. Tim has a services background, serving as an officer in the fleet air arm. Tim has an ability to run the Centre with an effective and informal style that enables the staff to work to their full potential. When not at work, you can find Tim racing dinghies in Swanage Bay and Poole Harbour

Anne Hughes

Director

Anne is also a Director of the Centre whose main talent lies with running the domestic side to the business. Over the years, she has been responsible for developing our fine culinary reputation amongst our clients as well as maintaining our standard of accommodation. When not at work, Anne likes to spend time in the garden or catching up with her globe trotting children.

John Blair

Deputy Centre Manager

JB has worked in the outdoor training industry for nearly 20 years; working across the UK, France, Spain, United States and Australia. He has experience of working with a range of clients from the training, retail, financial, manufacturing and public sectors of industry. Currently studying for a masters degree in management development, he has the ability to develop imaginative training programmes using powerful and enjoyable techniques. After work, he spends a lot of time around the Dorset coast line, either on or under the water and on the cliffs or planning his next trip abroad.

Jeff Morris

Chief Instructor

Jeffus has worked as Chief Instructor for an apprentice college before Brenscombe. He uses his observation and honest feedback skills to provide corrective coaching to teams and individuals. Combined with his acute sense of humour, numerous stories from a previous life in the services and his keen sense for applying current management thinking leads to informative and amusing training sessions. Away from the Centre, Jeff is usually out and about winning golfing trophies.

Phil Palmer

Instructor

Phil has been working at Brenscombe for two years as a seasonal instructor. He has excelled in his role, is a great instructor and team trainer and is also pretty niffty with a screwdriver, so he is now fulltime at Brenscombe. He has a degree in outdoor education and has a great deal of experience with differing groups. He offers professional and thoughtful sessions and programmes He is also a great socialite so fits in well with the rest of the Crew and our clients!

Stefan Cole

Instructor

Stef first joined us for a work experience week from school. We liked him so much, he was offered a seasonal contract and now works full time for us - we just can't get rid of him! Whilst with us, he has also worked for other Centres around the south coast and the odd ski season in the French Alps. Stef is well loved by our clients and is now well qualified and experienced in our activities. Away from the Centre (when we can convince him to go home) he zaps around on his motorbike and is an awesome cook.

Roger Longman

Chef

Roj joined the crew in 2004 and was the find of the season. He has developed our catering and added his own particular style and charisma to meal times. Before joining Brenscombe he studied at a catering college and ran a series of kitchens in a variety of pubs and restaurants around the South Coast. Out of the kitchen, he does what he can to keep up with Stef on his vintage Lambretta, flies power-kites and mooches around the local clubbing scene.

Helping Roj, we also have:

Karl

Joe

Wendy Morton

Centre Administrator

Wendy joined us in 2007 and supporting Tim, JB and Jeff in the office dealing with enquiries and running the accounts. When not answering the phone or writing cheques she can be found out in the Purbeck countryside on her bike or on foot or dinghy racing in Swanage Bay.

Associate Staff

Trainers

To assist with some of our corporate work and training programme run at Brenscombe, we sometimes make use of freelance trainers in the area. These very special people work with us because we really enjoy working with them and they fit in well to  our team. Our associates bring skills and experience that complement those already on our team and allow us to provide expertise in areas such as:

NLP    Insights    Belbin    Myers Briggs    Drama Therapy    Business Coaching

Seasonal Staff

Instructors

In order to cope with our busy season we also hire extra seasonal staff to assist with our domestic superstars and activity staff. We recruit these from April to October and from all over the UK. Each one is provided with in-house training so they can learn how we do things (our attitude and approach to our work) and assistance in obtaining National Qualifications. Each member of the activity staff is also given a mentor to help them during the season to get the most of out of their stay at Brenscombe.

Milo

Chief Ball Finder

Milo comes into work every day with Jeffrey and is a chocolate brown Labrador. Since his first appearance many moons ago as a puppy, he has proved to be a big success with our groups. He is great with people, loves children and can usually be found playing football on the field with groups staying at the Centre. He likes to be involved with all aspects of the Centre but when not working, prefers to be searching out old tennis balls.

Poppy

Head of Stick Chasing

Poppy has been at the Centre longer than most of the current staff. She comes to work with Tim and Anne and is a Springer Spaniel. She is now a bit of an old girl - more sedate than she once was but can still run rings around us all as well as keep Milo in his place. Always a hit with our groups, Poppy continues to receive more fan mail and attention than any other member of staff!

Employment

We're not currently looking for any extra staff.
