Brenscombe considers the delegates, the objectives and your budget when planning programmes. This is achieved during an initial consultation period either by phone, email or face to face at Brenscombe or at your work place.
As part of our service, we will evaluate the programme and supply written summaries of all the issues raised during the course. Pre and post course attitudinal surveys can be organised to measure effective changes within the delegates. Other techniques can also be applied. These can be combined with action plans and follow up sessions to aid the post course development stages and the implementation of the learning gained.
Events
Organisations often ask Brenscombe to produce a fun day of
activities for their staff. Using our range of activities and
facilities, we organize everything from simple activities to ‘Escape
from Purbeck’ challenges to water sports days for up to 250 people
Clients use our range of services and skills in a variety of ways. Events can include fun away days with an activity theme or that can be combined with your particular conference themes. Events can take place over a half day or multiple days with accommodation provided at the Centre or locally. Themed parties, discos and dinners can also be organized if required.
Many local organizations and companies use our facilities to host conference days at Brenscombe. They can then make use of our catering services as well as combine their presentations with activities and projects that help to instil some fun into proceedings or can be designed to help complement the themes and objectives of the conference. This enhanced learning experience helps to reinforce the messages of the conference and make the day more memorable.

as
introducing leadership principles for new team leaders. Specific
trainers are chosen for each course ensuring we match their
experiences and abilities to the participants on the programme.
Participants can benefit from practicing a range of leadership
styles and theories away from their own teams and workplace. This
gives them the confidence to learn without the fear of failure.
Combined with tutor feedback and coaching, individuals experience
rapid development.
Personal Development
Brenscombe can run programmes that focus on developing personal
skills within course participants. Programmes build upon participants' previous experiences and
existing knowledge. From this foundation, practical aspects of
programmes are linked with theories, principles and current
thinking.
Aspects include:
Teambuilding
All team programmes are designed with
your needs and budget in mind. Typically, programmes adopt a format
style from the following:
Team Experience

activities. The team benefits from spending time away from their
working environment to enjoy themselves whilst developing closer
working relationships with other colleagues.
Teambuilding by Stealth

that are designed to encourage teamwork requiring individuals to
pull together, sharing resources, information and skills. This will

Team Building
Teams can benefit from specific
team building programmes designed to match their needs, working

Sample Team Programme
0930 Icebreakers
Two simple exercises to warm up the team, introduce the style of
activities and review processes used during the day. A lot of
laughter will also be generated!
1000 Team Excellence
The team identifies a series of well known high performing teams.
They then consider what aspects of team working help those teams to
perform and which might hinder them. With input from trainers, the
team then go on to reflect upon their own team and which aspects
they are utilizing and which ones need further development.
1030 Team Time
The team participates in a series of team tasks staged around the
grounds of the Centre. After each task, the team reflects upon their
performance and what areas they can build upon and which areas may
need changing.
1300 Lunch
Cold Buffet, Cheese Board or Cooked Lunch
1400 Master Blaster
This team networking project involves the team subdividing into groups
to perform a number of related tasks around the local area.
Information and resources are obtained via successful completion of
the various aspects. These are to be shared around the groups to
ensure all are updated on effective procedures and methods.
Providing the groups communicate and consider each other’s needs
during the afternoon, all will become successful. Activities could
include:
|
Dragon Boating |
Archery |
High Ropes |
Laser Shooting |
1630 Forward Reflection
The team spends time reflecting upon their experiences and
performance during the day. Using a ‘hands on’ review technique
combined with feedback and guidance from the tutors, the team
consider how effective they were and how they can improve their team
performances. Issues will be linked to their working environment.
The session will finish with the group establishing a SMART Action
Plan for the team. This will be presented to visiting managers along
with suggestions as to how they can support the team during any
changes that take place.
1700 Finish
Emphasis is put upon completion of the task whilst utilising team, management and personal skills to the maximum. Individuals find themselves involved in a range of projects and they will always be in control of their level of input. No pressure will be put upon anyone to perform; only to commit to a successful result for the team.

Events and training programmes can be run at Brenscombe or other suitable locations.

Facilitation is used to help reinforce the learning that comes from the activities and projects. This ensures that learning is not left to chance. These sessions enable the transfer of learning from the outdoors to the workplace to be rapid, thorough and successful.

Brenscombe believe that learning should be enjoyable. Delegates will operate in an atmosphere of fun, support and challenge. This helps to develop the motivation to learn, enabling actions and outcomes to be effective and memorable.

Programmes allow delegates to apply concepts studied within a course in a new and different environment. Using the outdoors as a training medium allows delegates to function away from workplace pressures. This enables people to concentrate on personal performance; improving and experimenting without the fear of failure.

Brenscombe has a range of trainers with experience in a variety of models, techniques and training. Experiential learning is used on all our programmes as people learn by doing. Links are made to relevant theories and models where appropriate in order to reinforce the learning.
