Staff

Tim Hughes Director

Tim runs Brenscombe after initially converting a group of disused farm buildings into the Centre 16 years ago. He has a services background, serving as an officer in the Fleet Air Arm.  He runs the Centre with an informal style that enables the staff to work to their full potential. When not at work, you can find Tim racing dinghies in Swanage Bay and Poole Harbour.

Anne Hughes Director

Anne's main talent lies with running the domestic side to the business. Over the years, she has been responsible for developing our fine culinary reputation amongst our clients as well as maintaining our standard of accommodation. When not at work, Anne likes to spend time in the garden and organising book clubs.

Jeff Morris Deputy Centre Manager

Combined with his acute sense of humour, numerous stories from a previous life in the services and his keen sense for applying current management thinking, Jeffus leads informative and amusing training sessions. He manages the instructors and activity resources. Away from the Centre, Jeff is usually out and about winning golfing trophies.

Phil Palmer Senior Instructor

Phil is a great instructor and team trainer and is also pretty nifty with a screwdriver. He has a degree in Outdoor Education and has a great deal of experience as a team facilitator.  He offers professional and thoughtful sessions and programmes. He is also a great socialite so fits in well with the rest of the Crew and our clients!

Liz Palmer Staff Development Manager

Liz has a degree in Outdoor Education and huge amount of experience in canoeing and mountaineering. Liz is known for her easy going, cheerful personality and works very hard to ensure groups have the best outdoor experience we can provide. In fact she loves the outdoor so much, when she isn't climbing and and canoeing at work, she goes climbing and canoeing in her spare time!

Roger Longman Head Chef

Roj has developed our catering and added his own particular style and charisma to meal times. Before joining Brenscombe he studied at a catering college and ran a series of kitchens around the South Coast. Out of the kitchen, he flies power-kites, follows the Gunners and spends time renovating his  new house. Helping Roj, we also have Janet and Matt

Wendy Bobbit Centre Administrator

Wendy supports Tim and Jeffus in the office dealing with enquiries and running the accounts. When not answering the phone, sending out information to clients or writing cheques she can be found in the Purbeck countryside on her bike or dinghy racing in Swanage Bay.

Sue, Sue & Sarah Domestic Goddesses

Without the dream team, the Centre would just fall apart. Working all year round, the ladies make sure buildings are spotless, the rooms are tidy and the beds are ready for each group. Not only are they great with a Hoover, they also keep the boss in his place!

Seasonal Staff Seasonal Instructors

In order to cope with our busy season we also hire extra seasonal staff to assist with our domestic superstars and activity staff. We recruit these from April to October and from all over the UK. Each one is provided with in-house training so they can learn how we do things (our attitude and approach to our work) and assistance in obtaining National Qualifications. Each member of the activity staff is also given a mentor to help them during the season to get the most of out of their stay at Brenscombe. Returning staff are Anne-marie, Alex, Sophie, Alice, Aaron. New seasonal staff are currently being selected (1 Feb).

Milo Chief Ball Finder

Milo comes into work with Jeffus and is a chocolate brown Labrador. Since his first appearance many moons ago as a puppy he has proved to be a big success with our groups. He's great with people, loves children and can be found playing football on the field with groups staying at the Centre. He likes to be involved with all aspects of the Centre but when not working, prefers to be hunting for old tennis balls.

Associate Staff

To assist with some of our corporate work and training programmes, we sometimes make use of freelance trainers in the area. These very special people work with us because we really enjoy working with them and they fit in well into our team. They bring skills and experience that complement those already within our team and allow us to provide expertise in extra areas.

Milo: Brenscombe Staff Supervisor

The Brenscombe team all enjoy working together in a great family atmosphere. All of the instructors are qualified for the activities they lead and have passed an internal training and assessment process. They all have a valid first aid award and CRB check.
